According to an informal poll on the Special Events Magazine Web site, some event professionals report that the Sept. 11 attacks in New York and Washington have required them to change event venues while others plan to stay put.
"We had a venue at the top of a skyscraper that we changed," a planner on the East Coast says. Others are shifting to avoid forcing guests to travel by air or to visit high-profile venues. "We see a move to second tier cities and away from symbol venues," a Florida planner says.
But others report no change.
"Because I work in the corporation that I do events for ... I have seen no difference," an event planner in Texas notes.
