Who’s News in Special Events for Feb. 22, 2018

Special events news this week includes a new VP of business development at Red Velvet Events and a new warehouse operation in L.A. for Bright Event Rentals.

Austin, Texas-based Red Velvet Events has announced the promotion of Rachel Paisley, DMCP, to vice president of business development. Her new role will include overseeing marketing operations, sales initiatives, business development, and event partner relationships.

Bright Event Rentals, listed at No. 1 on the latest Special Events “30 Top Rental Companies,” announced Monday that it has opened a new 135,000-square-foot facility in Los Angeles featuring new equipment.  Bright acquired Classic Party Rentals last year July; with this opening, Classic’s team members and operations will move to the new facility and service the market with new equipment and the new “Bright” brand. “Our name—Bright--emphasizes our goal to stay fresh, to be innovative, and to always operate intelligently,” said Mike Bjornstad, Bright president/CEO. “To be a bright spot for your event, we provide quality equipment, exceptional service, dependable execution, creativity, and ease of use.”

The Society for Incentive Travel Excellence has announced that Tina Gaccetta will join the leadership team as head of events, where she will be responsible for both strategy and execution of events hosted by SITE and the SITE Foundation.

Erin Lovely has been named director of sales and marketing for Hotel Republic in San Diego.

The Birmingham [Ala.] Convention Center has named big catering vendor Centerplate as its new hospitality partner.

Atlanta-based Meeting Expectations has announced that founder and partner Jalene Bermudez, CMP, will succeed Brian Meyer as president, reprising the role she held from the company’s founding in 1992 until 2002. Meyer will remain a partner in the firm and serve on the Meeting Expectations board of directors. Bermudez assumes the role of president on June 1.
