The National Ballet of Canada’s annual “Mad Hot Ballet” fundraising gala returned this past June with the dazzling theme “Garden of Jewels.” The event attracts ballet lovers as well as figures from the cultural, social, fashion, and corporate spheres.
Held at Toronto’s Four Seasons Center, the evening began with a one-hour gala performance of excerpts and short works from George Balanchine’s “Jewels,” Carlos Acosta’s “Don Quixote,” and the world premiere of Alyssa Martin’s “Desperate Drama of Red.”
Following the entertainment was a themed reception in the lobby and a gala dinner onstage. Overall, the sold-out event raised $1 million to support the Company’s work.
