Eventure makes guests the stars

Party guests became movie stars at an event staged last night at Universal Studios Hollywood by Eventure of Northbrook, Ill.

Some 300 conference attendees, both staff and clients of SBC/Nortel Networks, partied at Universal’s Globe Theatre, which housed not only buffets and cocktail tables, but two complete movie “sets”—“The Mummy” and “Jurassic Park.” Eventure’s Debbie Tucker and Cheri Herzog put a spin on the typical Hollywood party by encouraging gregarious guests themselves to be the stars, donning costumes and reciting campy dialogue—with coaching by flamboyant directors a la Cecil B. DeMille—while being filmed. The evening’s surprise came as screens descended to play the “movies.”

The lavish buffets featured entrées including Sun-dried Tomato and Artichoke Concasse Breast of Chicken, Marinated Grilled Filet of Salmon with Caramelized Onions, Herb-Roasted Marinated Lamb with Black Olive Tapanade, and Filet of Beef with Sauce Bernaise, as well as salads and breads.

The event team added sly touches to enrich the theme, including supplying “call sheets” listing the evening’s agenda for guests to read while traveling from the L.A Convention Center to Universal.

From a platform in the middle of the room, star DJ Tony Okungbowa of TV’s “Ellen DeGeneres Show” spun dance tunes for those who had to hit the floor.
