Big Atlanta-based caterer Affairs to Remember Caterers announced yesterday that its executive chef, Ahmad Nourzad, has been selected for the honor of serving as a "Georgia Grown" executive chef.
Affairs to Remember is included on the latest "Special Events' 25 Great, Big Caterers" list.
The Georgia Grown Executive Chef Program offers Georgia-based chefs the platform to share their commitment to sustainability and buying local—tenets of Georgia Grown’s mission—throughout the state of Georgia.
“It’s a great honor to represent Georgia Grown," Nourzad said. "I’m excited about coming into this already aligned with Georgia Grown’s mission. In fact, we launched a ‘farm-to-party’ offering for our clients last year that focuses on seasonal, local ingredients.”
Nourzad will create awareness of the benefits of buying local, thus promoting the relationships between Georgia farmers and local chefs as well as consumers, as well as promoting Georgia Grown throughout the year at various events and online.
“When we launched our Legacy Green program in 2009, which includes a ‘source local’ aspect, chef Ahmad immediately and fully embraced the initiative," Affairs general manager Patrick Cuccaro said. "Today, he continues to educate our culinary team and our clients on the benefits of buying local. We’re proud to have such an enlightened executive chef at Affairs to Remember, and now representing Georgia Grown.”
