A Legendary Event, Atlanta, starts a three-year Gala winning streak in 2002 with its "La Dolce Vita" design, featuring gold and silver table linen, candelbra and square silver dishes. The dramatic centerpiece--with clusters of grapes, lemons, limes, pears, roses, miniature callas and golden yarrow--was lit from beneath.

Gala honors in 2006 went to Sasha Souza Events of Napa, Calif., for "Noche Del Fuego"--or Night of Fire--featuring a custom, 6-inch-wide fire pit lined with terra cotta tiles running down the center of a 60-foot-long table. The design included woven grass place mats, a tablecloth made from banana leaves, and blown-glass stemware.

Hello Florida of Orlando, Fla., snags the Gala in 2008 for "Taking Dining to New Heights," featuring a 24-foot, fully set clear acrylic table that was lowered from the ceiling to the surprise and delight of guests.

Atlanta-based A Legendary Event creates an outdoor-patio feel indoors via a decorative 48-inch cast aluminum top centered in a custom wooden ring; the al fresco mood won Gala honors in 2004.
