Ten talented tabletop designers will showcase their work on the show floor at The Special Event, Jan. 8-10 in Nashville. The winners in each category—Tabletops Under $1,000 Each and Tabletops $1,000 and Above Each—will be named at the Opening General Session.

Venue One Debuts Culinary Program
Venue One—an event space located in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood—has launched a new culinary program featuring food and beverage packages from its restaurant-caliber on-site kitchen. The facility offers 25,000 square feet of customizable event space suitable for intimate gatherings up to a sit-down dinner for up to 500 and receptions for up to 800. For a new spin on the holiday party, guests can go for a spin around New York in a double-decker bus from CitySights NY. Highlights of the tour include the bright lights in Times Square and the holiday windows at Macy's Herald Square.
The new square CakeShooter mold is designed to reduce the cake waste created by round molds. As a result, the cake pops the square molds create are 35 percent bigger than round pops. The molds are made of food-grade plastic and are delivered in cases of 144 units
The Special Events Advisory Board today announces the nominees for this year's Gala Awards, the most prestigious award in special events. The awards, which honor work from throughout the world, have been handed out since 1986.

New from Global Special Effects, the Amazing Snowman animated figure appears to blow "snow" though his hands, which are clad in mittens. The snowflakes are environmentally safe, the company says, and evaporate within 90 seconds of hitting the ground.
