Meetings Mean Business In Maryland The Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association is attracting new business through its "Meetings in Minutes" service, designed to assist with meetings of fewer than 500 people.
Now in its second year, BACVA's service guarantees assistance to callers in making meeting and transportation arrangements and booking hotel rooms within 24 hours.
BACVA director of communications Nancy Rinds says: "A lot of conventions are booked three to five years ahead. This program allows planners to book those last-minute meetings." The Camden Club at Oriole Park's Camden Yards and the B&O Railroad Museum are among the venues offered.
Rinds says BACVA started the service to drive small business into hotels during the off-season. "We've had great interest from the hotels. We're giving them business they normally wouldn't have."
The service is being offered through March.
