The longtime head of the Los Angeles convention and visitors bureau, George D. Kirkland, died Wednesday of cancer.
Most recently, Kirkland headed up L.A. Inc., as the bureau is now known. He led the bureau for more than 13 years, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.
He also worked for CVBs in Oakland, Calif., his hometown, as well as Miami, San Francisco and Kansas City.
